Contracted Monks
Rika Aragami
Rika Aragami is the only female contracted monk in the Kougon Sect. She is a descendant of one of the ten Great Holy Families, which are the descendants of the ten senior disciples of the Founder and obligated to become contracted monks to a Shikabane Hime. Because she was descended from one of the ten Great Holy Families, her Shikabane Hime, Saki, was quite powerful, even though she is only 10 years old. No normal Shikabane can defeat her. Though she and Keisei both trained under the same master, because of her lineage, her rank in the Kogon Sect was a Gon-Sojo, one rank higher than Keisei. Not only is she the contracted monk of Saki Amase, but she is well known for her ability to heal others, and her inability to button her shirt. Her Shikabane Hime, Saki, as well as Keisei, also love to tease her a lot, and she seemed to get very pressured when they do. When Keisei was going through spiritual trauma after his battle with Akasha, Rika was the one who nursed him back to health and gave him the pills that would help him battle that trauma before he could return to battle with Makina. Her Zadan technique is using her Golden Claws, which give out strings attached to her own nerve system to immobilize her enemies body. The Claws can also be used to cut things, like when she saved Flesh from one of Toya's balloons before it could suffocate her. She usually uses this technique while Saki beats the enemy to death with her giant hammer.
Takamasa Sogi
The contracted monk of Itsuki Yamagami. Because he was the son of the strong contracted monk, Genpaku, Itsuki chose him to be able to go to heaven faster, believing that he could give her stronger powers to fight Shikabane faster. Their relationship is a complicated one. While the two seem to have a romantic relationship, they are incapable of acting on their feelings due to Itsuki's nature as a shikibane. He has the scars across his chest to show that Itsuki's true nature as a Shikabane makes it impossible to be in a romantic relationship. Both he and Itsuki try to prevent Ouri from making a similar mistake with Makina, but at the same time their actions show signs that they want Ouri to prove them wrong. Takamasa often fights along side with Itsuki using a bow and arrow.
Sadahiro Mibu
When the series starts, he is introduced as Ouri's manager at a normal cafe that Ouri worked at after moving out of the temple, but he is the contracted monk of Akira Tōoka, and is working undercover to keep an eye on Ouri and Keisei. Out of all the Kougon Sect monks, he was one of the monks who could use one of the strongest Zadan techniques. He was also one of the only monks who knew the secret of what Shikabane Himes really become after they killed 108 Shikabane. Because of that, he and his Shikabane Hime, Akira, were allowed to kill not only Shikabane, but also humans too, if they found out the true secret about the Shikabane Hime; a secret that the Kougon Sect were trying to keep in the dark for centuries.
Shuji Isaki
The contracted monk of Minai Ruo. He does not care about others, especially Minai, who he treats like a tool. In the OVA it has revealed a little of his past and his hatred for his older brother. Isaki was made a contracted monk due to his brother's contacts. He intended to use Minai to kill his older brother, and claim the reasons that Minai killed his brother was because he was unholy and became a Shikabane. Isaki and Minai both knew they did not have a bond, but before Minai would turn into a Shikabane, he wanted to become higher status to be even higher than Keisei and even be the main monks, to bring down his brother. In the end, both Minai and Isaki accomplished to have a bond, but it turns out that they had a bond because they had a met a long time ago. In Isaki's family store, which young Minai went to frequently. Isaki doesn't show compassion for Minai, but he actually did care for her.
In the anime, he treated Minai as a tool, and treated her quite badly. He often yelled at her, calling her "worthless" and other insulting things, and also very critical when he talks to her. But he did care about her very much, including protecting her from being assulted by a couple of teenaged punks. He was killed by those teenagers he had beat up before when he was protecting Minai.

Sougen Takamine
Sougen Takamine is the contracted monk of the most powerful Shikabane Hime, the "Sword Princess" Kamika Tomoroki, the former mentor of Keisei Tagami and Rika Aragami, and one of the Six Sojos of the Kougon Sect. As one of the Six Sojos in Japan, he unifies the followers of the Kougon Sect all over the country, but mostly, he handles the ones in his own district. The other districts are left to the other Sojos, though they never show up in either the manga or the anime. He and his Shikabane Hime are the strongest pair of contracted monk and Shikabane Hime. That is because Kamika's regret was very powerful, giving her more power than any of the other Shikabane Himes of the Kougon Sect. Because of their strength, Kamika was given the nickname of the Sword Princess. Though he always thought that Keisei keeping Ouri close to the Kougon Sect was a bad idea, he never showed any hatred or contempt towards Ouri. After Keisei died, he even told Ouri everything about the ways of the Kougon Sect, Shikabane, Shikabane Hime, and contracted monks, thinking that Ouri deserved to know what Keisei did, and what was his job as Makina's contracted monk.
Kanechika Umehara
The only contracted monk that has two Shikabane Hime. Although in the series, we only follow one of his Shikabane Hime, Flesh. The other's name is Touma, although she never shows up in the anime except briefly in Sogi's memory when she was standing next to Umehara while he was warning him about his relationship with Itsuki, about how it can never be because of the Shikabane Hime's true nature. Umehara is known for his perverted nature, much worst than Keisei. He does have the reputation of being well versed in Shikabane. In the anime, he spends most of his time in Mount Goryo, training with his two Shikabane Hime. From time to time, other monks would come and be trained under him to become a contracted monk. Ouri trained under him for six months to become a contracted monk. He is also the only monk that can wield the Sword of Exorcism, a powerful weapon that can be used to destroy Shikabane.
